The Department of Corrections is notifying law enforcement and the public about the release of an inmate who they consider to be “high risk.”
Thirty-four-year-old Cory Yellow Boy is a registered sex offender. He was serving time for eluding a police officer, failure to update address as a sex offender and drug charges.
DOC Secretary Kellie Wasco said he is considered a high risk to reoffend based on criminal history and institutional assessments.
Yellow Boy was released in the Rapid City area. Because he served the entirety of his sentences, he is not on parole supervision
The DOC occasionally issues high-risk release alerts like this based on an inmate's history. Since 2011, the department has issued 14 similar notices.
