Black Hawk man sentenced to 25 years for distributing meth

A Black Hawk man is sentenced to over 25 years in a federal prison for his alleged connection to a West River drug ring.

Thirty-eight-year-old Darin Wherley is sentenced for helping distribute nearly 100 pounds of methamphetamine.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Wherley paid thousands of dollars to sources in Colorado to buy the drugs.

The meth was distributed to individuals throughout the western half of South Dakota, including on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Three others received sentences this summer in connection to the drug ring.
