Police issue arrest warrant connected to August Sioux Falls homicide

The Sioux Falls Police Department charged two in connection to an August homicide.

Twenty-nine-year-old Joshua Allen Jr. was killed in an altercation that took place in Dunham Park and injured 4 others.

SFPD has arrested 32-year-old Walter DeShawn Stewart. A warrant is out for 28-year-old Lamont Burks Jr.’s arrest.

Both are charged with one count of First-Degree Murder, one count of Attempted Murder and two counts of Aggravated Assault.

Aaron Nyberg is a Lieutenant at the department. He said Burks is considered armed and dangerous so the public should not approach him.

Nyberg currently is unable to speak to the relationships between the suspects and victims or motivations.
