Sioux Falls Police are investigating the city’s 14th homicide in 2024.
Sam Clemens is the spokesperson for the Sioux Falls Police Department. He says the department sees no rhyme or reason to the homicides.
“There’s not really one common thread that we could say this is why all of these are happening. You know and when detectives investigate these homicides, each one is investigated on its own. So, we’re not necessarily looking at other homicides, and comparing them. We just have to take them as they come. And there could be any number, we’ve seen a wide variety of reasons and I guess the ‘why?’ I don’t have an answer to that,” Clemens said.
According to the Sioux Falls police, 14 homicides is the most in the city’s history for a single year. That’s more than the previous record of 13.
In 2023 Sioux Falls only had two homicides on the year.
