A Hartford man convicted of wire fraud charges for a fake ticket re-selling scheme is sentenced to just under four years in federal prison.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Florida, Jeff Thurn lured investors to send him more than $5 million for his ticket re-selling business.
Thurn told victims he used the money to buy tickets then re-sell them at a profit. He offered guarantees and created fake receipts to convince investors.
Prosecutors said Thurn then spent than money for his personal benefit.
In addition to the prison sentence, Thurn must also pay more than $5 million in restitution.
