Authorities are confirming a man died during a standoff involving federal law enforcement officers in southeast South Dakota.
Attorney General Marty Jackley says the U.S. Marshals Service tried serving a warrant for felony drug and firearm charges at a Brandon home on Wednesday.
Jackley said the suspect refused to come out, and shots were fired from the home. Law enforcement did not return fire.
The home eventually caught fire. Authorities later found the body of a man inside.
The suspect’s name hasn’t been released. Jackley said there’s no threat to the public.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the standoff.
