A fight between two individuals in Sioux Falls left one dead in a case police are now investigating as a homicide.
Officers responded to a neighborhood just east of downtown Saturday night, according police spokesperson Sam Clemens.
There, police found Jacob Scott Gallman Running Shield with a head injury. The 24 year old was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Clemens said the next step is identifying the suspect.
“Then we can figure out the relationship between them, if they knew each other, if there was past history or exactly what took place or what led up to that fight. There’s a lot of people in that area, we don’t know exactly how many people saw that," Clemens said. "But if anybody has information we want them to call police or crime stoppers. We have detectives that are going to be doing a lot of work on this, tracking down people. Surveillance video is always a key in any type of big crime, so we’re going to be looking at a lot of that information and hopefully that will lead us to find people that we’re looking for."
Clemens said he doesn’t believe there is any current danger to the public, but since the suspect’s identity is not known it’s hard to be certain.
This is Sioux Falls’ second homicide of 2025.
