The South Dakota Department of Corrections is issuing a warning about the release of an inmate considered “high risk.”

Forty-three-year-old Moises Aguilar-Hernandez is being released from prison Thursday, April 17.

That’s when he completes his sentence for being convicted of having sexual contact with a child under age 16 in Beadle County. He’s being released in the Huron area.

Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko said the department issues public warnings like this when they release an inmate they believe is at high risk of reoffending. This is determined based on institutional assessments and criminal history.

Since 2011, the Department of Corrections has issued a total of 16 public notices of pending high-risk offender releases.
