Business Faculty at Mount Marty University are getting a boost through an endowment gift.

The university, in association with the Celmer family, will create the Larry J. and Martha A. Celmer Endowed Professorship in Business. This award is for a faculty member to conduct research, cover any travel expenses, and pay their salary.

An endowed professorship is a position permanently paid for with the revenue from an endowment fund. For Mount Marty, the fund will come as an estate gift.

Marcus Long is the President of Mount Marty University. He says an endowed professorship is a great honor.

“So, always endowed professorships are transformational significant gifts.” He says, “Some professors that rise higher than others and more involved in producing more knowledge they're great teachers those are the kinds of people who are drawn to endowed professorships.”

Mount Marty University currently has three other endowed professorships. Larry Celmer is a retired member of the Mount Marty board of trustees. He says being able to give back to the university is a blessing.

“My ties to Mount Marty University run very, very deep. I've been committed to Mount Marty for a lifetime… for a lifetime.”

Celmer says the ability to benefit students through helping faculty was important to him. He says the future of the university is in good hands.
