Philanthropist T. Denny Sanford has committed an additional $10 million to Dakota State University's Applied Research Lab.
Sanford previously committed $50 million to the university’s cyber-research initiative.
The initiative aims to grow the cyber-research industry by expanding education and workforce opportunities in the state.
"This additional gift by Mr. Sanford is a confirmation of the importance of this initiative to make South Dakota a cyber state," said DSU President Dr. José-Marie Griffiths.
DSU plans to expand beyond the current lab space in Madison and open additional space in Sioux Falls that could house 400 cyber researchers.
