The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire has unveiled a new facility being built in collaboration with the Sioux Falls School District.

The club is being built at George McGovern Middle School. The organization said it’s the first facility of its kind for Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire.

Jane Stavem is the Superintendent of Schools for the Sioux Falls School District.

“We are truly changing the landscape of free time for preteens and teens in Sioux Falls. We are excited about this development, and so grateful to our philanthropic community partners for stepping up to share the vision for quality, structured, after-school programs. Their support means that, together, we can offer students expanded learning and enrichment, leadership opportunities, and family support to build lasting benefits for the city of Sioux Falls,” said Stavem.

The 16,000-square-foot facility will offer students a gym, culinary space, recording studio, and social gathering areas.

Stacy Jones is the Chief Executive Officer for Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire.

“We’ll truly be meeting the students where they are at and delivering the same great support with innovative programs, such as STEAM, culinary, healthy lifestyles, tutoring, athletic camps, Taekwondo, volunteering, community partnerships, and workforce development, including career exploration using virtual reality goggles, mentorships and so much more. And as part of this program, we include meals and snacks too,” said Jones.

Construction is set to begin in spring of 2024 with the club announcing they hope to have the center open for students by fall of 2025.
