The Rapid City Area Schools board is hiring the district’s next superintendent.
The board voted 6-1 Tuesday to hire Jami Jo Thompson as school district’s new leader.
She is currently serving as the superintendent of the Norfolk, Nebraska School District. She’s held that position since 2013, according to her bio on the district's website.
"Dr. Thompson is eager to bring her experience and vision to RCAS and is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and challenging educational environment for all students," the bio stated.
Thompson replaces Nicole Swigart, who the board fired last August after an Office of Civil Rights report alleged she made derogatory comments toward Native American students.
