Despite social media concerns, the South Dakota State Library remains open, though with some caveats.
A Facebook from the state library association claimed the State Library is closed to the public, and said those seeking to use its collections have until the end of June to make an appointment.
In a statement, a Department of Education spokesperson writes the State Library is currently culling its collections and resources, and the MacKay Building is closed until that work is completed.
The library will remain open but will require an appointment before any access can be granted.
The Library Association did not return request for comment.
