With historic flooding in East River leading to a state of emergency, families in numerous communities now must pick up the pieces.
At a presser in Yankton Tuesday, Gov. Kristi Noem said the most severely affected families should stay tuned for assistance.
“The one thing I would say, we will request as well additional assistance which helps personal people in their homes," Noem said. "Maybe damage they’ve had in their home from water rushing through their house or being flooded. We don’t necessarily know if we’re going to qualify for that, but we’ll see and submit those applications too to see what we can do to get the people the help that they need.”
Additionally, further FEMA information about flood insurance and assistance can be found on the agency's website.
