The USDA Forest Service is offering a $25 million funding opportunity to local businesses and partners to reduce wildfire risks.

It is open to those that remove hazardous fuels from national forests and transport the material to be processed for wood products or services.

Last year, the project helped remove over 50,000 tons of hazard fuels, USDA officials said.

The application closes on Sept. 5.

Public webinars are being held on Aug. 16, 21 and 28 to help guide interested applicants through the process and provide opportunities to answer questions. Registration is required ahead of time for the webinars.
