The city of Watertown is organizing a community-wide cleanup effort next month.

The city’s parks and rec department event is called “Team Up to Clean Up.” It runs April 21 through April 26.

City officials say the goal is to clean up public parks, trails and other areas like ditches that accumulated trash over the winter. They’re looking for volunteers to help out with the effort.

“Cleaning up our city is a community effort,” said Ryan Heiser of the Watertown Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department. “’Team Up to Clean Up’ is an opportunity to come together and take pride in the spaces we all share.”

Those interested in taking part can call 605-882-6260 or email [email protected].

Officials say another way residents can help keep the community clean is to be proactive when hauling material in an open truck or trailer by ensuring that your load is properly secured. In February, the city issued nearly 60 citations for unsecured loads at the landfill.
