South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks is looking to remove sediment and debris from McCook Lake following a major flood.
A flood event last June collapsed many homes and destroyed roads and other infrastructure around the lake.
Now, GF&P is hoping to clean up the area to restore recreational use. This includes removing approximately 20,000 cubic yards of sediment and getting rid of remaining storm debris.
The project would begin in May and would last until August.
GF&P submitted a request to begin the project with the state Department of Ag and Natural Resources. Public comment on the project is open through April 27. Details on how to provide input on the project are available on the DANR's website.
