SDPB & SDHSAA State Football Championship Coverage

For the first time in more than four decades, the Lennox Orioles have won a state football championship. It was a game that saw both offenses struggle, but it was the Orioles who made enough plays on offense to secure the 14-6 victory in the 11A championship game in Vermillion on Saturday.

For the first time in 23-years, the Watertown Arrows have won a state football championship. The game was sloppy at times, by both squads, but each brought plenty excitement. A crucial stop on a two-point conversion was the difference as Watertown edged out Pierre TF Riggs 14-13 to win the 11AA title.

In what was a hard fought battle, Winner defeated Sioux Valley 20-14 at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion on Friday afternoon to win the 11B state championship.

In a game that saw plenty of big plays, it was Howard who held the edge to win the title. The Tigers defeated Wolsey-Wessington 38-30 at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion on Friday for the 9A championship.

It’s time to celebrate for Hamlin. The Chargers defeated Parkston 32-8 in the 9AA state championship game in Vermillion on Thursday night.

She is one of the all-time, multi-sport athletes. She saw success in three different sports. A track champion, a two-time state volleyball champion, and played in a national college basketball championship. Heather Goehner (Sieler) joins Craig Mattick on this edition of In Play.
