The 2023 high school football season begins this week in South Dakota with all three classes of nine man and 11B. Here is the prep media preseason poll. First place votes are represented in parenthesis.

“Will the Pierre Governors win a seventh straight title?” This is a question that many are asking as the 2023 high school football season in South Dakota draws near.

The USA Today has named Pierre’s Lincoln Kienholz as its national boys athlete of the year. He was announced as the winner during an awards ceremony on Sunday night.

Watertown native and North Dakota State alum Spencer Waege will report to rookie mini camp this week in Santa Clara, California to begin his journey with the San Francisco 49ers. A week and a half ago, Waege was signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by the 49ers following the conclusion of the 2023 National Football League draft.

She led her team to the Class B Volleyball State Title and still holds two state tournament volleyball records. Jussy Tuscherer Smith joins Craig Mattick on this edition of In Play.
