Softball - SDPB State Championship Coverage

This past weekend brought state championship competitions for both softball and golf. SDPB's Nate Wek was there, and shares some highlights from the playing fields.

The Patriots defeated Harrisburg 7-1 on Saturday in the ‘AA’ state championship game. It’s back-to-back state sanctioned championships, and their third straight, if you include high school club.

The Tea Area Titans left Aberdeen with a state title in softball for the first time. They beat defending champs West Central 9-5 on Saturday in a rematch of last season's championship game.

Chester has won the state ‘B’ softball championship! The Flyers defeated the defending champions Castlewood 19-8 on Saturday in Aberdeen. An impressive win for a program in its first year fielding a sanctioned high school team.

A week after having her appendix removed, Gayville-Volin eighth grader Paisley Dimmer was back in the Raiders lineup for the state softball tournament, and in her first at bat of the event, she went yard.

She won three straight state basketball titles with Yankton, went on to become a dominant player in college and then played professionally in Europe. Lisa Van Goor joins Craig Mattick on this edition of In Play.
