The worlds of wrestling and rodeo come together each summer during the Rumble at the Rodeo in Burke, South Dakota.

One of the best prep wrestlers in state history walked off the mat for the final time on Saturday in Sioux Falls. Navarro Schunke of Brandon Valley finishes his high school career as a five-time state champion – the first in Class A to achieve such a feat.

For the first time in nearly fifteen years, the Sturgis Brown Scoopers are celebrating an overall team state wrestling championship.

State tournaments are the perfect spot for historical moments, and for Giada Scherich, she rose to the occasion on the biggest stage. The Lakota Tech junior not only won her first ever state wrestling title for herself, but she’s also the first wrestler from her school to do it.

The 2024 SDHSAA state individual wrestling tournament wrapped up on Saturday afternoon from the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. Canton and Sturgis Brown won the boys team titles, while Pierre won the team title in girls.

She is one of the winningest coaches in South Dakota history, coaching volleyball for 36 years in Gregory. Donna Schmitz joins Craig Mattick on this edition of In Play.
