Ranky Tanky

www.matthewsopera.com

Gullah comes from West African language.  Translation: a people blessed by God.  Ranky Tanky's loose translation is "work it" or "get funky!"  It's in this spirit that the Charleston, South Carolina based quintet Ranky Tanky performs timeless music of Gullah culture born in the southeastern sea island region of the United States.

Accolades decorate this incredibly talented band that includes Clay Ross, Quentin Baxter, Kevin Hamilton, Charles Singleton and vocalist Quiana Parler (discovered by Clay Aiken).  Ranky Tanky performed at Matthews Opera House in Spearfish on November 12, 2016.
