Sturgis native David Hersrud brings his years in the music industry and lifelong interest in discovering new music to this episode of Fresh Tracks.
There's new music to hear from bluegrass band Nickel Creek and rock group Paramore. Plus, the Kinks have released a new anthology.
The Kinks: The Journey - Part 1
The Kinks' special 60th anniversary anthology is now available. It’s a career-defining anthology from three original members, Ray and Dave Davies and drummer Mick Avory. Peter Quaife, the original bass player, died in 2010.
The music was handpicked by the three Kinks and selected based on themes inspired by the trials and tribulations of the band.
Part two will be released later this year.
Nickel Creek: Holding Pattern from Celebrants
Celebrants is Nickel Creek's fifth album and their first in nine years.
The band is known for revolutionizing bluegrass and folk in the early 2000s. They paved the way for musicians like Billy Strings and bands like The Brothers Comatose. They have consistently pushed the boundaries of progressive bluegrass.
Paramore: This Is Why
Paramore has been through the wringer having to overcome infighting and numerous lineup changes. But while it was a rocky path to get there, their sixth album is their most ambitious and dynamic one yet.
While Paramore isn't classified as a Christian band in the traditional sense, their connection to faith is evident in their music. Even so, this album is full of surprises.
