We dive into music as a global connecter, and we do it with a conversation on Lou Harrison's concertos. Harrison was one of the first composers to explore world music through his work incorporating the gamelan, a traditional Indonesian instrument.
The upcoming South Dakota Symphony Orchestra concert will feature Harrison's work as well as Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade."
Ahead of the performance, we talk with Maestro Delta David Gier, historian Joseph Horowitz and pianist Emanuele Arciuli.
