Both the Agriculture and Game, Fish and Parks departments plan to ignite a prescribed fire in Custer State Park tomorrow.
State officials are working with firefighters on burning approximately five acres on the west side of Stockade Lake.
Fire personnel say the fires will reduce hazardous buildup of debris and dead vegetation which can spark unintended wildfires. Additionally, prescribed burns can stimulate new growth.
Smoke may be visible in the surrounding areas and can linger for several days after the burn.
