South Dakota has reached a new record for positive COVID tests in a day. Health officials say there are 2,020 new positive cases.
The state continues to have the second highest number of cases in the nation, per capita. A New York Times database shows there are roughly 6,600 new cases per 100,000 people.
Active cases surged to more than 1,200 for a total of 18,722. That continues a week-long streak of increasing infections.
There are 551 South Dakotans currently hospitalized. That’s an increase of 8.
No new deaths were reported.
