SD Higher Ed Task Force Says Ideas Focus On Sioux Falls And Rapid

Ed Task Force
A task force meets to consider recommendations for higher education.

A task force is drafting recommendations to change higher education in South Dakota.

Brian Maher is the executive director of the Board of Regents. He says some recommendations will focus on the satellite university campuses in Sioux Falls and Rapid City.

“I can’t tell you specifically what we’re going to do differently. I can tell you we have a number of options on the table for consideration that we’ll look at implementing to better utilize those two facilities.”

The Legislature created the task force last year. The task force is examining the performance and cost effectiveness of the state’s public universities.

The group has met five times. Its next job is drafting a report for the Legislature and governor by November.
