South Dakota Veteran's Cemetery Receives $2.1 Million Donation

Veteran's Cemetary

The South Dakota Veterans Council received a lofty donation.

In 2018 the council was tasked with raising 3 million dollars in 5 years for the Veteran’s Cemetery Fund.

Philanthropist T. Denny Sanford and PREMIER Bankcard CEO Miles and Lisa Beacom donated $2.1 million to the council.

Terry Paulsen is the president of the state veterans council. He says this donation means the non-profit can stop fundraising 2 years early.

“We had already raised almost 900,000 and to be able to get the other 2.1 and just take the burden off of raising the existing or the necessary funds to reach the 3 million, that alone in itself is just a relief.”

The cemetery offers free burials to veterans.

The money goes towards operational costs at the South Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
