One person is dead and others are hurt in a crash at a busy Sioux Falls intersection. Police say multiple cars are involved in the deadly accident.

It happened just before noon Thursday near the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and 41st Street.

Sioux Falls police say one person driving a Chevy Blazer triggered the crash that flipped a vehicle and destroyed several others.

"The speeds were estimated from, like, 65 to 100 mph in a 35 mile an hour zone," Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says. "That Blazer struck a Durango which then struck a pickup. We have numerous other vehicles that were involved in that."

Investigators shut down the intersection for several hours and encourage drivers to avoid the area of 41st and Minnesota. Police haven’t released details about the crash victim or others hurt.
