Remembering Governor George S. Mickelson

Those who knew former Governor George Mickelson describe him as a man who loved South Dakota and wanted to serve his state to the best of his ability. Twenty years ago, Governor Mickelson and seven others died when their plane went down in Iowa. The plane was returning to Sioux Falls from a trip to Ohio to try to save the John Morrell packing plant. In the hour, Frank Brost, Mickelson's Chief of Staff, and David Munson, former state legislator, Sioux Falls mayor and long-time friend of Mickelson, talk about the late governor. Also, Gretchen Lord Anderson, George Mickelson's Press Secretary from 1988-1992 joins the program. She's currently the senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Lodi, Wisconsin. Also, Susan Edwards-Johnson, former Secretary of Tourism, talks about what Mickelson meant to her. She was appointed by Governor Mickelson as the state's first Secretary of Tourism.
