Police say a man was murdered in west Rapid City over the weekend. Forty-seven-year old Myron Rock of Rapid City was found dead.
Rapid City Police Department Spokesperson Tarah Heupel says two men entered WalGreens at about 5:30 Sunday morning and asked the clerk to call 911.
“Police arrived, we talked to the two subjects and then found a male victim in the alley behind I think it’s 1925 West Main. The male victim was deceased and appeared to have been badly beaten. Both of the men that had walked into Wal Greens have been interviewed by detectives and after that one of them, Michael Hand, age eighteen of Rapid City was arrested for second-degree murder,” says Heupel.
Heupel says the other male that was questioned was released. She says police believe alcohol was a factor in the altercation but no motive has been established. She adds the incident remains under investigation, and an autopsy to determine the official cause of death is scheduled for today.
