South Dakota’s Congressional delegation is expressing concern over allegations of misuse of federal funds at the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe.
The group Human Rights Watch recently filed a report citing allegations of corruption by top tribal officials after a two year investigation. The report includes tribal audits showing millions of dollars in missing funds.
Some Lower Brule Tribal officials call the report nonsense, but Congressional officials say they are monitoring the situation and waiting for the outcome of any further investigations.
