Dakota Midday: Lorna Irungu-Macharia And Women In Politics

The Eisenhower Fellowships, founded in 1953, aim to spread a notion of peace and prosperity championed by President Dwight Eisenhower.  The program identifies emerging global leaders and empowers them to network globally and then make a difference in their own communities.

Lorna Irungu-Macharia  is an Eisenhower Fellow from Kenya now touring the United States.  She’s traveling America to examine the role of U.S. women in local and national politics.  Her goal is to take what she learns here back to her home country.  Irungu-Macharia recently toured Western South Dakota and SDPB News Director Charles Michael Ray caught up with her to ask about her fellowship and the scope of her research.
