Paperwork to allow ride sharing service Uber to operate in Sioux Falls is on hold. The company submitted documents to apply for an operating license last month but did not provide a South Dakota sales tax license.
Jamie Palmer is a licensing specialist with the city of Sioux Falls. She says once Uber applies for a sales tax license the city can move forward with issuing Uber its Transportation Network Company license.
“As soon as I receive word that that have their sales tax that’s necessary, I can process the payment that they’ve submitted and issues the license within just a matter of a day or two,” says Palmer.
Palmer says once Uber’s paperwork is complete, it’s hard to say when the company will decide to start car services in Sioux Falls.
