10 South Dakotans Join Hall Of Fame

The South Dakota Hall of Fame is inducting 10 new members this year. South Dakotans who excel in their careers are chosen for recognition in the Hall of Fame.

Each year the South Dakota Hall of Fame reviews about 60 applications and then selects a handful of leaders from across the state.

Greta Chapman is the CEO of the South Dakota Hall of Fame. She says the inductees reflect what makes South Dakota’s economy thrive with careers in farming and ranching, finance and medicine.

“So there are some broad categories that do indicate similarities. But each of those stories and how they accomplish them are unique and we do go across the arts and entertainment, communication, business industry—there are a number of subcategories that really diversify those folks who are inducted into the hall,” says Chapman.

Chapman says the Hall is extending their outreach through online resources so people can meet and interact with South Dakotans who have become examples of excellence.

All inductees will be sharing their stories in Sioux Falls on Tuesday. They are also being recognized at an honors ceremony this fall.
