Storm Delayed, But Heavy Snow Still Forecast

National Weather Service

The southern half of South Dakota is under a Winter Storm Warning for today into Wednesday.  Due to a slight southerly shift of the track of the storm, activity is delayed from earlier projections.  Greg Richards is with the National Weather Service in Rapid City.

According to Mike Gillispie with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, snow is expected to fall heavily in the east from mid-morning through the day.

Both Richards and Gillispie say very difficult travel conditions will exist in the southern half of the state for most of the day.  Those who have to travel should check conditions by calling the free 5-1-1 Road Condition Report, or online at Safe Travel USA
