In The Moment ... April 7, 2017 Show 067 Hour 1
It's Friday and it's time for our weekly Moment in Sound. This week we welcome Mark Petri?i? on the bayan . You can see him in concert tonight at the National Music Museum in Vermillion at 7 p.m. Central time. Also ... a preview show at the Muenster University Center in the Pit Lounge.
A local group is bringing people together to share stories, laughs and fabric. The Lakota Sewing Circle invites the community to break out their machines and learn new techniques. SDPB’s Chynna Lockett sat in on one meeting while members worked on quilts.
Elizabeth Acevedo has been in Vermillion this week as part of National Poetry Month and for conversations on race and civility.
Acevedo is a National Slam Champion, Beltway Grand Slam Champion and the 2016 Women of the World Poetry Slam representative for Washington, D.C, where she lives and works. She stopped by the studios yesterday to talk about folktales and poetry, radical empathy and thinking deeply about, as she puts it, "what master your language serves."
