Robert Wilke is the national secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In October of 2019, he toured South Dakota’s Fort Meade Medical Center. He then spoke with SDPB’s Lee Strubinger about rural health care delivery for veterans and tribal veterans. He also reassured South Dakotans about the future of the veteran facilities in Hot Springs.
In 2018, the U.S. Congress passed the Mission Act, directing VA to make changes in several key areas. Its complex reform will impact veterans’ care for decades to come.
