Crews are making progress on the U.S. Highway 14 bridge over the Missouri River between Pierre and Fort Pierre.
Developers told city leaders this week they will start grading and paving on the new John C. Waldron Memorial Bridge this spring.
They plan on opening the new bridge to traffic sometime this summer. Once traffic switches over, crews will begin demolishing the current bridge. That work is expected to last until 2025.
A 10-foot width restriction for all bridge traffic begins in April. Trucks hauling wide loads will need to detour over the Oahe Dam.
A more detailed timeline is available on the project's website.
