A statewide 911 system outage was causes by a problem involving a light pole installation, according to the telecommunications company that supports South Dakota’s 911 services.
Lumen issued a statement saying a third-party company installed a light pole in Kansas City, Missouri, leading to the service outage that impacted several states.
The company did specify why a pole installation resulted in 911 services getting cut.
Wednesday evening’s outage lasted about three hours.
