The South Dakota Department of Transportation invites the public to learn more about the diverging diamond interchange being built in Sioux Falls.
The interchange is being built at the 41st Street exit off I-29, one of the busiest intersections in the city.
DOT officials expect four lanes of the interchange to be open at the end of May. The remaining 2 lanes will open later this summer after landscaping and work on the islands is complete.
Sioux Falls is the second community to receive a diverging diamond in the state. The first was completed last year in Rapid City. Officials say this interchange style increases capacity, safety, and efficiency.
The DOT hosts an open house from 4-7 p.m. on May 22 at the Empire Mall to demonstrate and answer questions on how to navigate the roadway.
