SDPB Sports Content Producer and Sports and Recreation ReporterNate Wek is currently the sports content producer and sports and rec beat reporter for South Dakota Public Broadcasting. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism Broadcasting and a minor in Leadership. From 2010-2013 Nate was the Director of Gameday Media for the Sioux Falls Storm (Indoor Football League) football team. He also spent 2012 and 2013 as the News and Sports Director of KSDJ Radio in Brookings, SD. Nate, his wife Sarah, and three sons, Braxan, Jordy, and Anders live in Canton, SD.

Sioux Falls Christian can now add a girl’s state soccer championship to their trophy case. The Chargers defeated Groton Area 1-0 in the ‘A’ title match on Saturday in Yankton at Crane-Youngworth Field.

Sioux Falls Lincoln defeated O’Gorman 4-1 in overtime on Saturday afternoon to win the 2024 state ‘AA’ boys soccer championship. Last season, the Patriots went undefeated and won the title. This year, they entered the playoffs as the No. 2 seeded team, but the result is the same – a state championship.

Harrisburg defeated Rapid City Stevens 5-0 on Saturday afternoon in Yankton for the ‘AA’ girls state soccer championship. This is the third straight year the Tigers have won it.

Groton Area and Sioux Falls Christian are set to clash for the ‘A’ girls' soccer championship on Saturday evening from Crane-Youngworth Field in Yankton. Last season, the Tigers in the title match to Tea Area 3-1. However, with no seniors on last year’s roster, Groton Area’s squad is back hoping to flip the script this time around.

Make that two state girls tennis titles for west river in 2024. Earlier this week, St. Thomas More won the ‘A’ girls state tennis championship, and then on Friday, Rapid City Stevens claimed the ‘AA’ girls state title.
