Anniversary tours, essential albums & a fond farewell

This interview originally aired on In the Moment on SDPB Radio.

This episode includes a 20th anniversary tour for a classic album, a fundraising “S.O.S.” album from Marc Broussard, the remaster of an essential albums for your library and new music as a fond farewell to Jimmy Buffett.

The first and only album by The Postal Service became the second biggest album in the history of Sub Pop records after Nirvana’s 1989 album “Bleach."

The players are on tour with Death Cab for their anniversary.

Marc Broussard’s next album is “S.O.S. 4: Blues For Your Soul."

Broussard’s charitable work centers around serving underprivileged youth and his partnership with Guitars Over Guns. The focus is on his renditions of soul and blues classics by Little Milton, Bobby "Blue" Bland, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf and Al Green.

The Exploding Hearts' "Guitar Romantic" is the one and only album from the band, which was formed in Portland, Oregon, in 2001.

They started playing shows outside of the Pacific Northwest but crashed their tour van. Three of the four members were killed.

Their song "Modern Kicks" rated as one of best songs of the decade and the album deemed the 60th best album of the decade. The album is being expanded and remastered with a new version out this year.

We end with a single from Jimmy Buffett’s new album "Equal Strain on All Parts," which comes out on Nov. 3.

Larry, although retired as Assistant General Manager for SDPB, continues to write, host, and do media production and voice work for SDPB.
