Innovation in Education and Art: Artist Dick Termes and National Teacher of the Year Rebecka Peterson

On today's show...

In honor of "LEONARDO da VINCI," a new PBS documentary from Ken Burns, we talk to South Dakota's own artistic and scientific polymath. Dick Termes is the creator of Termespheres, a 3D way of capturing the world through art and math (1:01 to 17:00).

You're invited to step into Termes' work at an upcoming SDPB event. Echoes of Innovation: A (Virtual Reality) Leap from Da Vinci to Termes will show the "LEONARDO da VINCI" documentary and offer virtual reality tech for attendees to immerse themselves in Termespheres.

Explore his SDPB video series on art basics and how to draw using perspective.

Plus, a special guest joins SDPB's Teacher Talk. Oklahoma math teacher Rebecka Peterson is a University of South Dakota graduate and was named Oklahoma Teacher of the Year in 2022 and National Teacher of the Year in 2023.

She joins Gina Benz and Jackie Wilber to discuss quantifying success and relationships in education (17:00 to 49:00 ).
