The race for VP, author Peter Geye, and Ken Burns: Leonardo da Vinci

On today's show...

A new PBS FRONTLINE documentary explores the words and lives of two vice presidential candidates on the ballot this November. "The VP Choice: Vance vs. Walz" premieres today.

Sen. JD Vance and Gov. Tim Walz can showcase the diverse political views of Middle America. Gabrielle Schonder, director of the documentary, lays out their differing visions for the future of the country (1:01 to 11:37).

Two PBS filmmakers take us into their artistic process when crafting "Leonardo da Vinci," a new Ken Burns documentary coming out next month. Directors Sarah Burns and David McMahon re-introduce us to the original Renaissance man (11:37 to 31:32).

Plus, Minnesota author Peter Geye joins us ahead of his event through the Augustana Library Associates. He speaks tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. Geye is the author of several books, including "The Ski Jumpers."

He discusses finding the wonder and grandness of his home state and the similarities between writing and ski jumping (31:32 to 49:10).
