Remembering South Dakota U.S. Army veteran Kenny Higashi

On today's show...

Columnist Stu Whitney with South Dakota News Watch takes listeners into his pre- and post-election coverage. He shares what surprised him about the Election Day results and his key takeaways from the night. (1:00 to 14:47)

Lauren Harris is the author of "A Place for Harvest: The Story of Kenny Higashi."

Higashi grew up in Spearfish, South Dakota, and was the son of Japanese immigrants. He joined the U.S. Army after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Harris shares how she got her neighbor to open up about his wartime experiences and why she chose to chronicle his story in a children's book. (14:48 to 34:59)

Plus, Sioux Falls guitarist Jesse Christen has a new album coming out. He spoke with SDPB's Karl Gehrke about "Don't Forget to Tip the Band." (35:00 to 49:00)

Learn more about his mid-November album release party.
