In November, voters will decide whether to expand Medicaid in South Dakota. Amendment D would require the state to provide Medicaid benefits to adults between eighteen and sixty-five with incomes below one hundred thirty three percent (133%) of the federal poverty level.

More than 400 people in Sioux Falls were homeless at the beginning of this year. By the end of this year, the Sioux Falls Homeless Task Force will propose policy to address the issue.

Firefighters are optimistic about recent weather conditions aiding efforts to contain a blaze in the northwestern Black Hills. The Fish fire is located about seven miles southeast of Sundance Wyoming. It started on Sunday.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says drought conditions are expected to persist in the Missouri river basin. This is the third year of drought in the Missouri River Basin.

U.S. District Judge Charles Kornmann refused to dismiss indictments against a defendant after she entered into a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney’s office. Kornmann said because of the deal, he would not be able to sentence Tiffany Bernard to more than 15 years in prison, even though she was the ringleader of a vicious crime.
