Republican gubernatorial candidate Kristi Noem is calling for an investigation into her Democratic challenger’s campaign finance filings.

Republican Governor candidate Kristi Noem is outspending her opponent 6-1. The incumbent has also outraised Democratic challenger Jamie Smith 3-1.

Two candidates for South Dakota governor differ on how the state should fund education. Democrat Jamie Smith and Libertarian Tracey Quint sparred on the issue in SDPB’s Gubernatorial Debate. Republican incumbent Kristi Noem declined to participate.

This summer a legislative study on Juvenile Justice has focused heavily on keeping kids in school to prevent them from turning to crime. The committee has also focused on mental health problems and the severe dearth of treatment in South Dakota.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the state has seen a recent spike in fatal crashes. Most of the crashes involved victims not wearing seat belts.
