A new model for teacher compensation has reached the governor’s desk. After a full session of debate, both chambers have agreed on a package that will gradually raise teacher pay and establish a statewide minimum salary.
A trio of pipeline bills pass the House and Senate shortly after being amended by a conference committee. The bills mark the first landmark legislation regulating carbon pipelines since companies began developing potential projects in the state more than two years ago.
The state Democratic Party announces Sheryl Johnson as its candidate for the U.S. House. Johnson will face off with incumbent and Republican Representative Durty Johnson for the seat in this year’s election.
South Dakota’s two nominees for federal district judge complete an important test in the nomination process after facing questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee. Circuit court judge Camela Theeler and attorney Eric Schulte were both nominated by the Biden administration.
