Republican's already iron grip on the South Dakota Legislature got tighter this election. The GOP picked up a seat in both the Senate and the House.

A coalition of opponents to a pipeline regulation bill celebrates its overwhelming defeat by South Dakota voters. In the aftermath of the election, Referred Law 21 opponents say they're looking forward.

The state's largest county now faces scrutiny following the election, though its not because of security issues. Instead, many feel the counting process took unreasonably long, delaying results in multiple key statehouse races.

The University of South Dakota announces a $2 million grant to support the school's addiction and substance abuse disorder services. The money comes from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and will be distributed over the course of two years.
